Pointing and Laughing at Christians

I think after all the hype and the stupid billboards and the self-promotion that garnered millions for Camping, we deserve a day to point and laugh at his expense.  He's a foolish old man if he thought he could predict the "End-Times."

Of course, he wins either way.  He has a gajillion dollars sent in by his followers.  He's a Christian version of L.Ron Hubbard.  He created a brilliant strategy to use  religion to separate people from their money.

I feel sorry for the people who believed him and sent in their money, but I'm tempted to point and laugh at them too.  Unless they have a diagnosable psychosis, they should have seen through this nonsense.  It's not even Biblical.

If they had cracked open their own Bibles they'd have seen 1) that Christ was supposed to come before the deaths of his apostles and 2) nobody knows the date.

The people I won't point and laugh at are the children of these idiots, who are the real victims.  Like the children of parents who are deluded about other things, these kids aren't getting the parental guidance they need, and it will be very difficult for them to handle the fall-out from the failed prediction.

One of my friends is a Christian but she thought Camping was a crackpot.  Still, she had to deal with four little children who were scared to bits yesterday.  Camping wanted to scare people, but did he think about how little kids would feel after seeing billboards and news accounts threatening them with death?

After our day of pointing and laughing, Camping should be thrown into jail for child abuse, not to mention fraud.

You got it exactly right. The stupidity and self-delusion of these crazies has brought suffering to the rest of the world for thousands of years. It's about time they suffered for their own stupidity for a change.

Well, Camping will never be charged with fraud. If you took all the fraud out of religion, there'd be nothing left.

I love that this one was so public, all the major news stations reported it even BBC. The public can see how this is just made up BS and the bible can be twisted any old way. Camping had all his bible text in line and shit I would have bought this years ago. It is from the inspired Word Of God. Who could doubt it? And it fell flat on its face. In fact the weather was near perfect and continues today. LOL. Speaking for God, such bullshit.

When I was a minister in my youth in the late 70s this stuff was going on but the internet wasn't around and it was easily swept under the rug. Thanks to vocal atheist (thank You), the internet and the news it cannot be easily forgotten. I savored this one with relish. Am ready for the next one. We know these idiots will never learn, not as long as there is money to be had and naive, gullible people.

By the way. I fixed that broken link on my blog. I so fricky hate that when I do that. It is a good read.

Now a Baptist minister is telling Camping to repent.
Loving it.

“Harold Camping, pls update w/your repentance statement & instructions to your now-broke followers,” said Pastor Ed Stetzer on Saturday afternoon, Setzer is President of LifeWay Research, a division of the SBC.

"No man knows the day or hour Harold Camping will reply and repent," Stetzer tweeted some hours later.

Repent you son of a bitch

They hate it when their religion is made to look foolish even more than they hate it when they are made to look like evil pedophilic embezzlers`

I'm Christian, and I laugh at Camping's delusion. If I've personally met this guy I would slap him to wake him up from his delusion.

By the way Camping isn't a real Christian. He can't even read the bible correctly. He believes he is, but we know otherwise.

He should be charged with fraud. Indeed, Camping is darn stupid.

Not true scotsman fallacy.

Jesus said to his peers THIS generation will not pass away before his return.

Camping is just doing what Jesus did.

I'm confused by all the talk about punishing Camping. Did he break any laws?

I think Pete said it all

@ex-minister1, not true. You misinterpreted what Jesus said. You're taking Jesus words out of context. He wasn't referring to that generation. He was referring to our generation now.

You're mistaken that Camping did what Jesus did. In the first place, Jesus didn't predict the exact date of the end of times. Sorry you have to re-read your bible.

LadyAtheist said...

scum, you mean "this generation" means whichever generation is reading the passage at the moment? That's very self-centered of you and all the previous generations who though Christ was specifically referencing them.

Scum, read the verse. Jesus explicitly says that generation.

“I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." (Matt. 16:28)

I can understand why Christians have a hard time admitting that their religion is a failed doomsday cult, but don't try to deny what the bible itself says.

Hey, I don't care if you make fun of us Christians. You'll be the one laughed at in the end as you burn for eternity.
