Indiana Taliban Marches On

The Huffington Post covers the next step taken by the Indiana Taliban.  Incredibly, the ridiculous bill  has passed its second step, passage in committee.

Kudos to the Huffpo for including a video of Richard Dawkins.

It's so humiliating to live in a state where such idiocy is respected.  Coincidentally, the state is having a hard time attracting high-tech industry to build factories.

"It's so humiliating..."

You must be used to that, by now, right? I mean... believing in evolutionary fairy tales and all.

@Anonymous, only someone ignorant about evolution would make such a stupid and baseless comment. Evolution through the process of natural selection is a confirmed scientific fact. Only a religiously deluded dunce such as yourself would call it a fairy tale.

Gideon, your comment is not even worth a reply. But I could not help myself. I just can't help but call bullshit when I see it. Can you guess what the bible and its slew of mythological tales are? Yup, you guessed it; Bullshit!! Just like all the other mythological tales that have predated it.

Contrary to what you may believe the bible is neither historical nor prophetic. The quatrains of Nostradamus are more reliable than so called "holy writ."

Chatpilot, I usually move Gideon's posts to the Spam folder before you see them. I'm sorry I missed this one. I'll move his post but leave your reply. It's more substantive and respectful than his nonsensical and insulting post deserves, but it probably won't reach him. Nice try though.

Can't say that I blame you on that one LadyAtheist. I get my own Gideon's every once in a while on my own blog.

It's funny how Gideon has never once attempted to use logic on this site(or his own for that matter). He just proclaims his beliefs as the truth, and insults anyone who offers a dissenting opinion, usually in the most childish manner possible. My guess is that he would rather sic an Inquisition on us than reason with us. But I digress. This bill is further evidence of the overwhelming stupidity of religious herd-think. Some people ask when the religious right will learn that science is not beholden to personal opinions(since creationism is unfalsifiable, untestable, and therefore not scientific in any shape, size, form, or fashion). The answer should be clear by now; never.

You have to be free from life-long brainwashing to learn anything new.

I stopped reading his posts ages ago. I look for his name then *click* off the post goes to the spam folder.

Muncie is a seriously impoverished rust belt city, and is the poorest city in the North. I think this is due to most of the non-university people here having roots in the fundy south. We're also very close to Anderson, IN, also very poor. It's the home of the Church of God, coincidentally.

Now now Gideon is that any way for a believer in God to behave? Whatever happened to:"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" Matthew 5:44 KJV

Oh I know, that's just not your style huh? One of those cherries you prefer to leave on the tree. Typical Christian hypocrite behavior. Keep up the good work, I bet you are doing your savior proud!

Creationism in a nutshell: Once upon a time, man in his ignorance of the world around him and before the dawn of science created an invisible guy in the sky.

This imaginary being was to be used to explain everything that at the time had no explanation. Today this is called the God of the gaps.

With the spoken word he created the heavens and the Earth and all that inhabit therein. With the sole purpose of stroking his ego and reminding him how great he is.

With the dawn of science and the scientific method this being is slowly fading away to obscurity and taking his place among the rest of his friends in the pantheon of mythical gods.

LadyAtheist, et al,
I hope you caught my reply to your comment on the Sensuous Curmudgeon's post concerning this bill. Don't be ashamed, don't be disheartened, and don't get down. Please, do what I'm doing, which is writing to all of the state senators and representatives to let them know what I think of this bill. Yes, I realize it's a pain, but do it. Let them know you want sound science taught in the science classroom. Let them know that we live in a global economy, and if we want investment, whether it be from US or foreign companies, we need scientifically-educated citizens, not ones who believe that the answer to every science or technology question is "Goddidit".
Again, please do it. Ask your other commenters (aside from "Anonymous" and similar trolls) to do the same. Put it on paper, put it into an envelope, put postage on it, then run it to the mailbox. I believe paper is harder to ignore than electrons, if you know what I mean.
We can do this!

Thank you, Gary. I will do that. I will encourage others to do it too.

I agree with you completely, it is complete idiocy, and I am very much concerned about this matter as I am a resident of Indiana myself.
