Defacing the Gideon Bible
I was on vacation last week, and during some spare time I decided to deface the motel room's Gideon Bible. I have done this a few times, but this time I consulted The Evil Bible for passages about genocide and slavery. If I were a better artist, I'd have added some cartoons.

What did you want to prove by damaging a book? First, it is not your property, second, it IS a book, and because of this should not be destroyed, even if you do not agree with its content. In my opinion you prove that you are uncivilized. Sorry to write this because I liked your blog.
The Gideons place these in hotels in the hope of converting people. It was free to the motel, and the Gideons probably want people to take the bibles with them when they go. There is an endless supply of these.
IT just a book...One of THOUSANDS JUST LIKE IT!!! Its not like she destroyed the entire library of Alexandria!!! Like some others did do. It was the same as me destroying a paperback version of Doc Savage. Its just a bunch of paper. Not some lost ancient manuscript that can never be replaced.
In general, I'm a fan of books, and I wouldn't deface other people's property, but the Gideon Bibles are a different category.
Also, everything I wrote in them is true, just pointing out the uglier side of the Bible which the Gideons' indexes overlooked.
I used to use a highlighter. Find an appropriate verse, highlight it, leave bible open to that page in drawer or dogear the page
I wish I'd thought of that. I used to just throw them in the garbage while I was first settling into a room. Your way would be more fun and potentially helpful to the next person.
I think it would be more appropriate to not stay at a hotel that has a Christian agenda.
Defacing a bible just seems to show we are petty about atheism...or at least that's how believers would see it. For the non-believers or those questioning the bible this would be helpful.
Every hotel has a bible in the nightstand. And I think defacing might be a bit of an overstatement honestly, all she has really done is point out objectionable stuff that is already in there.
I usually just go with "The Book of Lies". Maybe next time I'll go through and snark various quotes.
